Lesson 10: Bagpipe Practice Goose

This is the stepping stone between playing your practice chanter and the bagpipes. It makes the transition between the two a lot easier. The practice goose only has one reed compared to the bagpipes that have 4 so they are much easier to maintain. Plus, the reed is easy to play comapred to a set of bagpipes.
"Small pipes, Shuttle pipes and Parlour pipes" are not a practice goose. DO NOT BUY THEM at least for now. They are expensive, hard to tune and will detract from your objective to learn the mechanics and coordiation of breathing and squeezing a bagpipe.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING A GOOSE. However, if you deciede you would like one.
I suggest this one.

Buy a Goose Adapted instead

I recommend not getting a practice goose. If you purchase a practice goose you will probably only ever use it for a couple months then you will want to buy a set of pipes. Instead when you do decide to purchase a set of pipes buy a Goose Adaptor with them. Your practice chanter will not fit into the bagpipe stock because it's made for a highland pipe chanter so the diameter of the stock will be to large.
This simple $15 piece of plastic plugs right into your chanter stock. Now you have a practice goose without spending $150. The only thing else you need are 3 wine corks to plug the drone stocks. This is an inexpensive and more realistic alternative to buying a practice goose.
*Before, you buy the goose adapter ask the Bagpipe Supply Store if it will fit your chanter. Sometimes they are too small.*
