Taping Bagpipe Chanter

To flatten individual notes of a chanter apply tape to the TOP of the hole like in the diagram to the right.
Tips:
- Top hand notes of a new reed are initially sharp and will gradually become flatter as you play the reed more.
- You should redo tape on your chanter when the tape begins to slip or sink into the holes.
- Avoid covering more than a 1/3rd of a hole. Covering the hole decreases the volume and will sometimes cause a chanter to squeak, especially the High G.
- It's a myth that no tape on a chanter in good. All chanter will need a bit of tape.
